Dual-Channel Multi-Purpose Telescope
A dual-channel telescope allows for a wide-field telescope design wit h a good, narrow field channel of fewer surfaces for shorter-wavelen gth or planet-finding applications. The design starts with a Korsch three-mirror-anastigmat (TMA) telescope that meets the mission criter ia for image quality over a wide field of view. The internal image a t the Cassegrain focus is typically blurry due to the aberration bala ncing among the three mirrors. The Cassegrain focus is then re-optim ized on the axis of the system where the narrow field channel instru ment is picked off by bending the primary mirror

Improving the Performance of Three-Mirror Imaging Systems with Freeform Optics
The image quality improvement for three-mirror systems by Freeform Optics is surveyed over various f-number and field specifications. Starting with the Korsch solution, we increase the surface shape degrees of freedom and record the improvements
Musical Robots For Children With ASD Using A Client-Server Architecture
Presented at the 22nd International Conference on Auditory Display (ICAD-2016)People with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are known to have difficulty recognizing and expressing emotions, which affects their social integration. Leveraging the recent advances in interactive robot and music therapy approaches, and integrating both, we have designed musical robots that can facilitate social and emotional interactions of children with ASD. Robots communicate with children with ASD while detecting their emotional states and physical activities and then, make real-time sonification based on the interaction data. Given that we envision the use of multiple robots with children, we have adopted a client-server architecture. Each robot and sensing device plays a role as a terminal, while the sonification server processes all the data and generates harmonized sonification. After describing our goals for the use of sonification, we detail the system architecture and on-going research scenarios. We believe that the present paper offers a new perspective on the sonification application for assistive technologies

Accommodating Hints of New Heavy Scalars in the Framework of the Flavor-Aligned Two-Higgs-Doublet Model
Searches for new neutral Higgs bosons of an extended Higgs sector at the LHC
can be interpreted in the framework of the two-Higgs doublet model. By
employing generic flavor-aligned Higgs-fermion Yukawa couplings, we propose an
analysis that uses experimental data to determine whether flavor alignment is a
consequence of a symmetry that is either exact or at most softly broken. We
illustrate our proposal in two different scenarios based on a few 3 sigma
(local) excesses observed by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations in their searches
for heavy scalars. In Scenario 1, an excess of events is interpreted as (where or ), with the CP-odd and
CP-even neutral scalar masses given by GeV and GeV,
respectively. In Scenario 2, an excess of events in the production of
and final states is interpreted as decays of a CP-odd
scalar of mass GeV. Scenario 1 is consistent with Type-I Yukawa
interactions, which can arise in a 2HDM subject to a softly-broken
discrete symmetry. Scenario 2 is inconsistent with a
symmetry-based flavor alignment, but can be consistent with more general
flavor-aligned Higgs-fermion Yukawa couplings.Comment: 48 pages, 19 figures, 15 tables; v2: minor tweaks and some added
